Open and standardised data protocols enable the integration of devices from different manufacturers into building automation systems. BACnet is a globally used and well-known data protocol for building automation. Compliance with protocol specifications is required to ensure smooth data communication.
The industry association BACnet International created the organisation BTL (BACnet Testing Laboratories). BTL establishes testing and certification regulations (BTL test package and BTL test policies) and maintains a testing and certification system for BACnet communication of building automation devices. It introduced the BTL mark, which confirms that the products comply with the requirements of the BACnet standard in accordance with the BTL test regulations.
Since 1st of January of 2017, the BTL system has been supplemented by a product certification scheme. WSPCert has been commissioned to carry out the certification. The BTL testing and certification system can be found here.
BTL maintains a directory for the tested devices (BTL listing).
